Director's Biography
Tom Shoval was born in Petach Tikva, Israel in 1981 and is a filmmaker, film critic and a teacher. He made award winning short films including The Hungry Heart , Shred of Hope and I Will Drink My Tears, which participated in numerous festivals around the world.
He graduated with merit from the ‘Sam Spiegel’ School for Cinema and Television, in 2007. Youth is Shoval’s debut feature film.
Youth has been screened at more than 50 festivals around the world including Berlin Film Festival, London BFI, Honk Kong Film Festival, Karlovy Vary, Tokyo Filmex, New Films New Directors FF New York, and many others. The film also won the grand prize at the Taipei Film Festival 2013: the New Talent Award, and won three major prizes at the Jerusalem Film Festival 2013 including best film.
