First Course (Mana Rishona in Hebrew) is a unique initiative of Gesher Multicultural Film Fund and Green Productions which endeavours to provide short films with greater exposure. The project presents a selection of the finest Israeli short films and has been running successfully in cinemas across Israel since February 2012. More recently, the project has been extended to international audiences.

Including a variety of fiction, animation and documentary short films, First Course provides a brief but profound insight into the colour and complexity of contemporary Israel, presenting the varying perspectives of both established and emerging filmmakers.

The short films included in First Course have been carefully curated, with a focus on bold, edgy, and innovative work. Many of the First Course shorts have screened at the world’s most prestigious film festivals and won a host of awards.
